Peak Playing Cards

Karl Larson decided to spice up the typical playing card deck for something that any fellow Coloradan would appreciate. Peak Playing Cards are designed to represent Colorado’s 53 mountains that reach at least above 14,000 feet above sea level. Represented by a Day Deck and a Night Deck, each card on one side features mountains reaching toward a cloud-filled sky engulfed in either rays of sun or stars. Cards are organized according to mountain elevation; highest peaks are aces and lowest are twos and jokers.

Tethered by Letters’ (TBL) Free Editing Program

The Tethered by Letter team decided to help out aspiring writers become even better, for free! Starting in 2007, TBL runs several educational programs and has published art and literature. TBL’s Free Editing Program is run primarily by volunteers to help other writers reach their goals of being the best they can. There are many talented writers going unnoticed because they run into common roadblocks but TBL is here to help. Within the last year, this team has helped over 500 new and aspiring writers. Support this amazing team with helping other literature lovers through their Kickstarter campaign.

The Violet Hour

We all have our favorite bedtime items, but most likely they are items of clothing scored from different places or people throughout the years. In 2013, Katey Kaiser noticed this “trend” of random shirts and pants when doing her laundry of sleepwear. Kaiser decided that it would be wonderful for all women to be able to express themselves through their favorite nightwear by making pajamas inspired from classic silhouettes. Fabrics are used creating cozy yet chic sleepwear for women to feel sexy and comfortable when they go to sleep and wake up in the morning. A local Colorado seamstress, to keep costs down, will sew each vintage silhouette design. Ladies, show Kaiser some support by pushing this campaign to reach its goal and get her designs out there!

ArtBeat

ArtBeat is a way to give lower income children an opportunity to express themselves creatively and explore all different types of artistic projects pertaining to their interests. Mattie Poppins originated this idea so children who are not able to access their as creativity easily as others by giving a safe space to present their art. Students use recycled and easily attainable materials so they are not limited to a classroom. These ArtBeat kids will have the chance to learn what they are best at and what their creative interests are beyond this program. It is aimed to allow them to get a feel of what they would want to do to change the world and how to build for the future.

Missing 411

This project is really strikes serious emotional chords. Writer and investigator David Paulides spoke to a National Park Ranger and received chilling news. During the course of the Rangers time involved as a search and rescuer within several National Parks there have been missing people. He concluded that after about a week of investigation, the search would halt. Families were and still are left without answers to where their loved ones had vanished. To this day, National Park Services refuse to answer any questions Paulides would ask about these disappearances. During the course of those six years of his own investigation, Paulides wrote a series of books that had an outcome of 52 people all over North America that have gone missing in National Parks and Forests. Now, to continue his story and to help families find answers, he is in the middle of producing Missing 411. Help not only Paulides finish this film but help the families missing their loved ones to get to the bottom of their disappearances and hopefully find peace.
