Curious Thinkers Explore Innovation and Global Connections at COIN 2015

3rd August 2015

COIN.

Colorado’s premier innovation event is back.

As the Colorado Innovation Network’s (COIN) fourth annual Summit approaches, the folks at COIN are looking to hit it out of the park harder than ever before. It’s also where you’ll see the Xfinity Innovation Think Tank! The first of four years with a theme, this year’s delegates are going to be stirring up some innovative ideas for how to change the world by exploring one broad topic:

CURIOSITY.

Kelly Underell, Deputy Director at COIN and one of the organization’s longest serving members, helps us to understand how this is all going to break down:

“We started with curiosity because it is really the foundation of innovation,” she says. “The event has four questions that will really help us to zoom in and take a look at innovation and self.”

The COIN Summit will span two days (August 25 and 26) in the Seawell Grand Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts

Over those two days, the Summit will be divided into four sessions surrounding the four curious questions Underell noted:

Session #1: How do our digital selves define us?
Session #2: How are the ways we connect changing?
Session #3: What do the communities of the future look like?
Session #4: Who will advance global progress?

Notice a pattern? Each question prompts a bigger idea than the last. This year’s agenda is making a very concentrated effort in gradually building toward innovation, rather than looking for it to happen abruptly. This is something that Underell tells us was “very intentional:”

“It’s all going to end with the question: ‘What revolution will you lead?’” she says, “to inspire people to think differently about this whole world that we contribute to and what role we have in collaborating for a better economy and better world.”

It’s the most deliberate program they’ve built yet, having specifically crowdsourced ideas from the community to bring Colorado what it wants.

While the event is invite-only, it’s not because they’re trying to be exclusive and leave people out, but really trying to make sure that they include the right thought leaders so that they can hammer home this approach to building us a better world.

But don’t worry: We’ll be bringing all the coverage we possibly can from this exclusive event.

Some of the big speakers this year include:

  • Governor John Hickenlooper (Founder of COIN)
  • Daniela Ibarra-Howell (CEO, Savory Institute)
  • Brian Boyle (Co-CEO, Issue Media)
  • Brad Feld (Managing Director, Foundry Group)
  • John Hayes (Chairman, President and CEO, Ball Corporation)

And many more!

It’s going to be an exciting year for COIN! Be sure to check out some of our coverage from last year here, here and here!
