Tip of the Peak: Finding The Perfect Investor For Your Startup

15th July 2015

Last time we gave you some advice from the peak, we talked about how to get out there and meet people. For entrepreneurs, it’s important to know that you’re meeting the right people to help your business.

If you want to start growing, what’s one thing you’re always going to need? That’s right — money. When an investor comes your way and starts throwing cash around, it’s not so easy to turn down.  This is where a lot of startup founders make their first big mistake: taking the wrong money from the wrong people.

Investors do their due diligence when choosing what companies to invest in — it’s up to you to do the same to them. Here’s what to look for in investors and why:

1. Mo’ money mo’ problems

If your idea is that good, getting your hands on money won’t be all that hard, but you need to be careful with what you take. As Biggie once said, “Mo’ money, mo’ problems.” The more you take, chances are, the more control you’re going to give up. Ask what else they can offer you.

Colorado Creatives Know How To Network … With Booze

5th May 2015

Kegs with Legs. It’s a catchy name for an event that’s catching our attention.

Put in simplest terms, it’s a monthly happy hour event that promotes networking among creative professionals in the Denver/Boulder area.

A little get-together for creative professionals … okay, so what else is new?

Well, as it turns out, putting Kegs with Legs into simple terms pretty much removes all the imagination and ridiculousness that makes this event so unique and so popular.

With themes like Paddle Battle,” Carnival on Colfax,” and Beer, Ball, and Beef,” Kegs with Legs promises to be the least lame networking event you have ever been to.

The Tip Of The Peak: Networking

9th April 2015

Why is it that the wisest old men are always hiding way up at the top of mountains, making us regular folk have to go to great lengths to seek their help? Is it because only the foolish man lives in society? Is it the altitude and the privacy that allows them to meditate so much that makes them so wise in the first place? Or maybe they’re just selfish and want to keep all of that wisdom to themselves?

Source.

Luckily for us, we’re surrounded by mountains – so setting out for answers wasn’t as hard as you might think. We climbed and climbed and climbed until we found that wise, elusive old man and sought all of the wisdom, advice, and tips we could get out of him.

Oddly enough – this wise old man was very business-oriented, so we exchanged emails, connected on LinkedIn, and he even offered to help us out with our new advice column: The Tip of the Peak  named in honor of this friendly fellow.
