Way back in December, we had the supreme pleasure of becoming acquainted with the founders of RunSafe, the accidental startup. For Violet and Sharif Alexandre, safety is more than just a problem to be solved for the community—it’s personal.

After experiencing a traumatizing event while out running, Violet and Sharif knew it was time to change the face of safety for runners. With RunSafe, the Alexandres offer standard fitness tracking features such as pace, time, calories, etc. but largely emphasize its safety features that revolve around the big three components of prevention, action, and response. How Internet Access Is Helping A CSA Tackle Local Food Justice

Just twenty minutes from downtown Denver lies a bucolic plot of land replete with vast, shady trees, thriving vegetable vines and a cool, swiftly moving stream. Here, the livelihood of goats, chickens, bees, and the land on which they stand is protected by a conservation easement. Five Fridges Farm is also a CU Denver research site, where a Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is combining the farm-to-school model with both elementary and university student involvement. The experimental project addresses critical concerns of food justice and access in local Colorado schools, relying on knowledge from the internet to internet to enact change.
