This Colorado Space Company Just Won a Giant NASA Contract

Colorado has killed the space game once again. What else is new?

Last week, NASA announced their decision to award three massive contracts to commercial space companies for cargo and supply delivery missions to the International Space Station (ISS).

Guess who was one of them? Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) Space Systems, based right out of Louisville, Colorado. The other two contracts went to SpaceX and Orbital ATK, both of which have already handled several cargo launches to the ISS in the past.

Tomorrow Night: Get Professional with Some Whiskey and Some Country Tunes

In order to celebrate the beginning of the 10th year of Colorado Springs Rising Professionals (CSRP), the organization is throwing a kick-off party. The event takes place tomorrow, January 8th, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm at Pikes Peak Center.

Complete with a whiskey tasting and a “Country Legends Concert” performed by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, this won’t be some boring, uptight event. (We think the idea of a full orchestra performing country music from the likes of Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton is enough of a reason to go.)

Jeremy Wimer is the Manager of Admissions Services at Colorado Technical University. Wimer moved to Colorado Springs in 2002 and first became involved with Colorado Springs Rising Professionals after becoming a Supervisor at CTU and hopes many people achieve their goals through the program.

Sandy Wenger serves as Director of Operations for a couple of different companies: Conspire and Healthquest Medical Services. Over 10 years ago, when she graduated from college, Wenger took a job at the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce—one that she hoped would eventually lead her to where she is now.

The New Digital Library: Supporting Small Business

New library programs, services, and machines are drawing a different crowd of library members. 

Several Colorado library districts are looking beyond digitizing their content to help them target new potential library members. Often places for community gatherings and engagement, some technology-focused libraries are naturally shifting to offer fully-equipped makerspaces. Technologies such as 3D printing, laser and vinyl cutting, design software, audio and video editing and others are drawing self-motivated individuals looking to learn and create.
