“I love the entrepreneurial atmosphere throughout Denver. You really can’t go to a restaurant or coffee house without hearing conversations about people’s startups or projects,” Blue Sky Creative Media’s founder Chuck Tyler. The innovative scene in Denver is flourishing and Tyler is capturing it with his own creativity.

“Entrepreneurial energy is simply creativity mixed with motivation. Those are the kinds of people I like to hang out with, because I’m one of them.”

Blue Sky Creative Media was founded in 2010 after Tyler had nearly two decades of audio and video production under his belt. He spent fifteen years in corporate video and television production with a focus on multimedia advertising campaigns. “I wanted to be at the helm and work with people who are interested in creating awesome video projects,” shared Tyler.

Beyond the media component of Blue Sky, the team is dedicated to keeping their content local. That means interacting with Denver locals and highlighting elements of the city that make it so unique – “I love how Denver folks are generally more open and friendly. The more I work with Denver’s businesses owners, the more supportive attitudes I find. In my experience, Denver’s business community is growing in very interesting ways because people choose to work together.”

This strong belief in the collaborative community of Denver is represented in one of Blue Sky Media’s most exciting productions – The Colfax Chronicles. The colorful avenue stretches East-West, covering over 27 miles, paints a different picture for every local. But one thing is certain – Colfax has a reputation (Playboy Magazine once referred to Colfax as “the longest, wickedest street in America”!) and quite frankly, it’s about time the thriving local businesses perched on Colfax were spotlighted.

“The Colfax Chronicles is a monthly, half-hour TV series exploring the culture on the longest street in America. With 27 miles of businesses to explore, we showcase the stories told by people who own and manage storefronts along the main vein that runs through the heart of Denver.”

As part of the Colfax series, Tyler is working on a documentary sharing the life of Kancho Joko Ninomiya, the Grandmaster of Enshin Karate on Colfax Ave. between Steele and Adams St. “He’s an amazing man who created his own unique style of Karate, and, although he calls Denver home, he has schools in over 20 countries and a massive worldwide following.”

It’s clear Tyler thrives off the creativity of others, which is why his passion is executed so organically in the midst of like-minded individuals and businesses. “Denver’s creative scene is awesome. It always has been – that’s one of the reasons I moved here in 1991 and I haven’t left. As I’ve watched the birth and growth of electronic communication and commerce, I’ve watched people become more easily empowered. The number of people deciding to go for their dreams has exploded. i know a guy who is a self-made millionaire from working online at home. That’s one form of success. More exciting to me, however, are the people who fulfill their dreams by creating businesses and help them run and flow.”

These entrepreneurs may not be millionaires, but the success is in the essence of what they do – as Tyler quotes one of his friends, “thoughts matter…thought becomes matter.” “I think this is one of the core reasons we’re here – to create. When I’m in a conversation with someone who is excited about their next project, or the expansion of their business in a new direction, I can’t help but let that energy inspire me. It’s contagious, I love it, and I usually end up working with them one way or another.”
