Another fantastic weekend is here, and this is a special one. No, not just because of Mother’s Day. But because it’s time for another edition of the Denver Lowdown, where we sum up all the sweet goings on of the community to keep you from being a boring little curmudgeon. You’re welcome.

So, what’s going down this weekend?

1. UNMarried in America (Vintage Theatre Productions, 1468 Dayton St, Aurora, CO 80010)

For those who are closely following the Supreme Court’s proceedings on the legality of gay marriage, check out this play Friday night at 7:30pm through June 21st, UNMarried in America. Inspired by Prop 8, the play is the story of a court reporter who transcribes the infamous proposition of 2010 and takes her work home with her, where raw emotions, charging opinions, and deeply held convictions drive the people of her life into conflicts that prove difficult to judge. Meet the playwright, K.D. Carlson, on opening night! Tickets are $14. (photo)

2. Huge Church Garage Sale (11202 W Jewell Ave, Lakewood, CO, 80232)

Aww yiss, another sweet garage sale from GSLAR. This time, it’s the Huge Church Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday. There’s a lot you can pick from here, including furniture, clothing, dishes, tools, small appliances, sports equipment, and maybe even a pretty sweet Mother’s Day gift … hint hint. (photo)

3. Drop in Volleyball (The Dive Volleyball, 2335 Delgany St, Denver, CO 80216)

This Saturday from 7 to 10pm, check out some Drop in Volleyball in LoDo. This is a really fun group of co-ed players who just want to play a good game of volleyball. There are four courts of sick volleyball action and costs $5 for three hours of play. You must be 18 or older to play. (photo)

4. Mother’s Day Boot Camp (Aqua Vista Park, 18700 E Wagontrail Cir, Aurora, CO 80015)

This Sunday (also known as Mother’s Day), from 9 to 10am, come get a workout with your mom for Mother’s Day Boot Camp at Aqua Vista Park. The class is FREE to all Moms. Please bring your birth certificate as proof (totally kidding, don’t do that). (photo)

5. Sunny Side Up Yoga (Cheesman Park Pavilion, 1900 11th Ave, Denver, CO 80206)

After your cute little Mother’s Day Boot Camp, check out Cheesman Park Pavilion from 10 to 11:15am for some Sunny Side Up Yoga for some donation-based vinyasa-style (whatever that means) Yoga in the Park. This is a class for all levels, so whether you’re a Madonna-level yogi, or a beginner who can’t touch their toes, you’re welcome to join. Namaste, yo. (photo)

There’s surely a lot to do this weekend, especially for Mother’s Day. Take her to a thoughtful play on current civil rights in America, get her something cute from the big (sorry, HUGE) church garage sale, enjoy a friendly game of volleyball and get some exercise all Sunday. But most importantly, make sure you let your mom know just how awesome you think she is, and treat her to a fabulous weekend, brought to you by EveryBlock.

Have a great weekend, everybody. Especially you, Mom.
